As scientists, it is vital that we stay up to date on the state of our fields. But the community is industrial, and produces an enormous volume of literature (to it's credit!) It can be exhausting trying to keep up with it all.

To help anyone who is new to the field of the actinides, mass spectrometry, or any of the other areas I am interested in, as well as to help myself pursue the chemical literature with a purpose, I will post a new article once a week here.

If you have found an article that you'd like to highlight, and make me aware of, feel free to send me an email!

The ORBI-Trap mass spectrometer from Thermo-Fischer has redefined high-accuracy mass spectrometry in the modern lab. There have been several review articles summarizing it's capabilities and describing the way the instrument works, but here is the original paper, introducing the technology and it's capabilities.

Additionally, you can find here several papers introducing updates to the mass spectrometer, including electro-spray ionization and the C-Trap
